THE VERDICT
Synthesized from published reviews
A film that had to be made under impossible circumstances — Chadwick Boseman's death required the franchise to grieve publicly and rebuild simultaneously, and the result is genuinely affecting in its best moments and structurally uneven because of the constraint. Letitia Wright's Shuri carries the film's emotional core with more confidence than expected, and the Namor introduction is the MCU's most assured new-character origin since Black Panther. The runtime is too long and the third act tries to do too much, but the grief the film carries is real and the film doesn't pretend otherwise. More honest than most franchise films are allowed to be about what it cost to make.
PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE
