Echo

THE VERDICT

Synthesized from published reviews

Echo is Marvel's quietest Disney+ series — a street-level crime story that strips away most of the franchise connective tissue to focus on Maya Lopez's fractured relationship with her heritage and her surrogate father, Wilson Fisk. Alaqua Cox is a compelling physical presence, and the decision to place Deaf and Indigenous representation at the center of a superhero narrative is meaningfully executed rather than tokenistic. The five-episode run is lean to the point of feeling rushed, and the finale resolves its central threat too quickly. But as an experiment in a different register for Marvel television, it largely earns its place.
