The Bloodline of Betrayal
From Agamemnon's doomed homecoming to the fall of House Atreides, the oldest wars are often fought inside the family.
House Atreides carries one of science fiction's oldest mythic bloodlines. The name reaches back to the Greek House of Atreus, the cursed family of Agamemnon, whose story echoes through The Odyssey as a warning about power, pride, homecoming, and betrayal. Agamemnon survives the Trojan War only to be murdered after returning home, betrayed within his own household. Thousands of years later in Dune, the Atreides line still carries that ancient pattern: noble rule shadowed by political treachery, vengeance, and catastrophic inheritance.
